Born from a little girl named Ruthie
The Prairie Princess is named after a Wyoming daughter who inspired the whole thing — a bow made by a mom who couldn't find anything gentle enough for her newborn. Built for every baby who deserves something natural, organic, and made with real care.
A mom, a mission, and a baby named Ruthie
When Ruthie was born, her mom searched for a bow that was soft, organic, and actually made for newborns — not just scaled down from toddler sizes. Something that wouldn't leave red marks. Wouldn't shed microplastics. Would grow with her instead of ending up in the donate pile three months later.
She came up empty. So she made one. The Prairie Princess was born in Wyoming — a pre-tied bow on a sliding-knot band, crafted from 95% GOTS-certified organic cotton with 5% Lycra. Named after the girl who inspired it. Built for every baby who deserves better.
Every bow is handcrafted in Arkansas — hidden seams, smooth construction, a fit that adjusts from newborn to toddler. No tight elastic. No red marks. Just something you can feel good about putting on your baby.
What we stand for

The Prairie Princess — intentional products for families who care
Born from a simple question: why is there nothing gentle enough for newborns? The Prairie Princess started as one mom's answer. The Ruthie is named after the girl who inspired it all — and The Prairie Princess bows are handcrafted in Arkansas with hidden seams and smooth construction. Every detail considered, every stitch intentional.
What goes into every bow
Every The Prairie Princess bow is crafted from the same blend — chosen carefully for softness, durability, and safety. Handcrafted in Arkansas with hidden seams and smooth construction. GOTS-certified, free of harmful dyes, and tested to the highest standards for infant textiles.
The hero material
Our GOTS-certified organic cotton comes with no pesticides, no chemical softeners, and no synthetic dyes. It's breathable, durable, and gets softer with every wash.
Stretch, shape, and durability
A touch of Lycra gives the bow stretch and durability so it holds its shape wash after wash. Internal elastic keeps the band structured — that's not the fit mechanism (the sliding knot handles fit), it's what makes the bow look great on day one and day one hundred.
One bow, every stage
The sliding knot adjusts to fit every baby — from the tiniest newborn to an active toddler on the move.
to tighten

to loosen
Gently slide the two knots toward each other to tighten the band — or apart to loosen. No tools, no snaps, no hassle. Takes about two seconds.

12 months – 3 years
One The Prairie Princess bow adjusts through all three stages. No need to size up — the same bow that fits at birth still fits at age two.
Fitting questions, answered
Will it leave marks on my baby's head?
No. The band is made from soft organic fabric — not elastic — so it rests gently without digging in. As long as the knot is adjusted to fit comfortably (you should be able to slip two fingers underneath), there's no pressure on your baby's head.
How do I adjust the fit?
Hold the bow in one hand and the band in the other. Gently slide the two fabric knots toward each other to tighten, or apart to loosen. That's it. It only takes a couple seconds once you get the feel for it.
Is it safe for newborns?
Yes. The Prairie Princess bows have no small parts, no snaps, no buttons, and no hard hardware of any kind. The design is fully compliant with CPSC infant accessory guidelines. We recommend supervised wear for newborns, as with any baby accessory.
How do I measure my baby's head?
Use a soft measuring tape and wrap it around the widest part of the head — just above the eyebrows and ears. That gives you the circumference. Then use our size cards above to find the right starting position for the knots.
