What is The Prairie Princess made from?
Every bow is crafted from 95% GOTS-certified organic cotton with 5% Lycra for stretch and durability. All seams are sewn with color-matched stretch thread — not the kind that pops when the band is adjusted. The whole bow is GOTS, CPSIA, ROHS, and REACH certified.
Where is it made?
Designed in Wyoming by a mom who wanted something gentle enough for her newborn daughter Ruthie, and handcrafted in Arkansas by skilled domestic sewers. The full bow — from the cotton to the seam turning — is made in the USA.
What ages does The Prairie Princess fit?
Newborn — 13″ head circumference (birth to ~3 months), infant — 15″–17″ (3 to 12 months), and toddler — 18″–20″ (12 months to 3 years). One sliding-knot band grows with your baby; no need to size up. See the full Size Guide.
How do I wash and care for the bow?
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Lay flat to dry. Reshape the bow while it’s still damp. Do not bleach or iron directly on the bow — the heat and chemicals will damage the cotton fibers.
Is it safe for a newborn? What are the certifications?
Yes. The Prairie Princess bows have a smooth underside where they touch skin, with all seams turned and enclosed — no visible stitching anywhere. The design is CPSIA-compliant, and the materials are GOTS, ROHS, and REACH certified. We recommend supervised wear for newborns, as with any baby accessory.
Will it leave marks on my baby’s head?
No. The band is made from soft organic cotton — not tight elastic — so it rests gently without digging in. As long as the sliding knot is adjusted so you can slip two fingers underneath the band, there’s no pressure on your baby’s head.
Is the bow pre-tied, or do I tie it myself?
Every bow arrives pre-tied and ready to wear. Just slide the knots to your baby’s head size and you’re set — no tying, no fussing, no retying after every wash.
